National Volunteer Week – A message from the Executive Director NPWS

On behalf of all the NPWS staff, I thank all our volunteers for their tremendous efforts in supporting
South Australia’s national park reserves, and other significant conservation sites. We are fortunate
to have thousands of volunteers who share our commitment to caring for nature and are willing to
contribute their time and skills to protect, conserve, and enhance our environment.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is Something for Everyone, which is an apt description of the range of work achieved by our dedicated volunteers – from revegetation and habitat restoration, to track maintenance and citizen science projects, the impact stretches across our whole state.

I’m very pleased to see the planning going into this year’s Friends of Park Forum at Belair National
Park in August. The Forum is a wonderful opportunity to share information and ideas, meet other
volunteers, and to celebrate volunteer efforts with the Friends of Parks Awards. I look forward to
catching up with you there, and on my regional visits.

Once again, thank you for your great work. Your ongoing enthusiasm and contribution to so many
activities across our State is essential to the conservation work achieved by NPWS and DEW.
