Muraltia in 2025
You will have read the interesting article by Liz on the finalisation of the Muraltia control grant around Norton Summit. In this article I wanted to draw your attention to the work that needs to be ongoing.
While the Muraltia control grant has come to an end, it does not mean this weed, with long lived seed is finished. Plants will continue to come up here and there and we need to keep them under control to prevent their spread.
iNaturalist is a great way of recording the plants that you find. Feel free to contact me with the details of your find it you don't want to use iNaturalist or don't have access to the technology. Please make a note of where you have seen the Murlaita and how many plants you have seen. I can be contacted by email
secretary.fobhm@gmail.com or phone: 041 849 5834.
Already 4 plants have been found and controlled in Morialta so far this year with 6 sightings recorded in iNaturalist. It is easy to use the filters in iNaturalist to find new sightings and it is possible to get alerts about new sightings being uploaded. The following link is for the sightings in the Adelaide Hills so far this year:

The specimen we found on the right was found at the Biology Society event in September this year.
